I have been a lifelong bird watcher and purchased dozens of feeders in my life. That’s one reason why I thoroughly enjoy researching them. In the course of researching bird feeders, I have come across some with outstanding storage capacity or wonderful ease of assembly or even sturdy construction. There are some that are even squirrel proof.
Well…
this one is not known for any of those things and yet it struck a chord with me nonetheless.
I was taken by its beautiful construction and extraordinary style. The hexagon shape was singular among the other feeders I reviewed. Coupled with the unusual and unique shape was the extraordinary attention to detail with the design.
The detailing of the roof alone was enough to sell me. I could very easily see it as a wonderful accent to the bird feeders I already had in place.
As for cleaning, the twist top device at the top of the feeder allows for easy access and the wide mouth of the feeding area lends itself to no spillage.
With a two pound capacity, and room for eight cardinals, this feeder was a great addition to my backyard. With its wide viewing panels, there isn’t a bad angle for viewing the cardinals feeding.

Our Verdict: Twinkle Star Wild Bird Feeder
I absolutely love my Twinkle Star Wild bird feeder. It’s ideal for cardinals to feed from
And…
With its all-weather design, it will last season after season.
The incredible attention to detail with regard to the artistic look and feel of the feeder makes it look like an expensive, high-end bird feeder but it is not expensive at all. This feeder is actually one of more reasonably priced on the list. What I liked was the fact that I was getting something that looked incredibly pricey, but wasn’t paying for it. A little bit of couture without the cost. How wonderful is that?
So…
If you’re in the market for something that looks expensive but isn’t (and let’s be real who isn’t?), then this is your feeder.
The gazebo design offers unparalleled views, from multiple vantage points, of cardinals as they feed from the wide tray.
With the brushed copper finish, the detailed feeding tray and the wonderful detailed tiled roof it’s a singular looking feeder.
The oversized roof is perfect to shield the cardinals as they feed in inclimate weather or for a bit of shade from the sun. If you’re like me and not very handy, you will be delighted to know it comes fully assembled. No tools and no stress.
- Fully assembled
- Beautiful detail
- Oversized roof
- Easy to clean
It can be hung on a stand or attached to a tree or porch railing adding a wonderful accent to any location. Designed for smaller birds, it is perfect for cardinals.
Our Analysis, Comparisons & Test Results
Whenever I review bird feeders, there are several different criteria I use. With this one, although it is made out of plastic, I still think its design and aesthetic appeal outshines so many other cardinal feeders on the market today on that point alone.
And…
It comes already pre-assembled which is another big plus for so many bird lovers. Who wants to spend hours trying to decipher instructions and get frustrated putting something together that is so to bring enjoyment?
- Visually appealing design
- Pre-assembled
- High seed capacity
The feed capacity is outstanding at just over two pounds. It can be filled with a variety of different seeds to attract different birds.
The ease of cleaning of this feeder is outstanding. The roof is easy to remove and the big opening of the container makes it one of the easiest on the market to clean.
Design and Aesthetic Appeal
Without question, this bird feeder struck me as a beautifully designed feeder. I loved the tile detail of the roof and the hexagon shape of the entire feeder for that matter. The brushed copper finish is a very nice touch.
I loved the design.
Absolutely loved it. The overhang of the roof is plenty big enough to shelter my cardinal buddies feeding in the rain and to even offer some shade in the summer months.
With room for eight around the bottom feed tray…
there will be plenty of activity to watch as your cardinals feed again and again.
Points of interest:
- Unique hexagon shape
- Large overhang on the roof
- Room for 8 birds
- Detailed tile roof
- Brushed copper colored finish
They gave a lot of thought to the aesthetics of the feeder but didn’t short it on features either. With an impressive two pound feed storage capacity it doesn’t have to be refilled as often as other feeders in this price range.
It also comes completely assembled so there’s no fussing with tools or reading hard to understand directions. The lid is held on by a secure twisting lock mechanism.
Things I loved about it:
- Comes completely assembled
- Easy to refill
- Easy to clean
- Inexpensive
Twinkle Star really did a great job with designing a bird feeder with the look and feel of an incredibly expensive feeder loaded with features, but without the high price tag.
I was very impressed with this feeder.
Storage Capacity
While some feeders have tiny seed capacity, needing to be constantly refilled, this one is not like that. It can be such a hassle to refill feeders, especially when someone has many hanging up as I do!
- Over two pound capacity
- Easy twist off roof
- Large overhang to shield feed and birds
There are times where I feel like half my life is spent refilling my feeders. I gladly do it because I love my cardinals
but,
one of the biggest draws to this feeder for me was…
the storage capacity.
With a two-pound capacity, I didn’t need to refill it every other day. Even when I had to fill it, it was simple to do with the twist-off roof.
The other thing I like about the Twinkle Star wild bird feeder is,
the large overhang to keep the seed dry so there wasn’t much waste by rain.
Nothing worse than filling up your feeder only to have half of it rot because it got wet. Once that happens, birds won’t want to come to perch because of the smell. Think about it. If you had rotten feed in this feeder or fresh in the one next door, which are you going to feed from? Exactly.
Ease of Cleaning
This was one of the highest-rated factors for this feeder. While the feeder is constructed beautifully, with great detail giving the intricate looking tiled hexagon-shaped roof and the wonderful base, this is not a delicate feeder. It is made of tough, well-constructed plastic and already assembled out of the box.
Important things to keep in mind:
- No need for special cleaning agents
- Use warm water and soap
- Single twist off top to allow for easy cleaning
The only portion that is removable is the roof. This is done by using the twist lock mechanism on top of the roof. Once twisted to the unlock position, the entire roof can be removed and with the large mouth of the storage area, it is so easy to clean. Soapy warm water did the trick. It was easy to get my hands inside and clean every corner.
And…
Since the only piece I had to remove was the roof, putting it back together and refilling it was such a breeze.
I had it refilled and back together after cleaning it in only a few minutes. The manufacturer recommends cleaning it once a week which is not a problem at all with this feeder.
Ease of Refilling
This feeder holds an impressive two pounds so refilling it doesn’t occur as frequently as might with other smaller feeders. When it comes time to refill, this feeder is a dream.
There is a small twisting mechanism at the very top of the feeder.
With an easy twist of the wrist,
the entire hexagon shaped roof will come off,
exposing the feed storage area.
The storage area has a large mouth which makes it very easy to fill it without wasting any of it. Once seed has been poured inside, the lid is secured in the same way, with just a twist of the wrist.
- Single twist off top opens the feed storage
- Large mouthed opening for easy refilling
- No spilling means no waste
- No tools needed
No tools are necessary which is a huge plus. Nothing more frustrating to me than needing a wrench or screwdriver to take part of the feeder apart in order to fill it with more seed. Simple is my style and refilling this feeder is definitely simple.
Ease of Assembly
While this was a category to rank the different feeders, this was one of the easiest categories to rank for this particular feeder.
Why, you ask?
Well,
it was already assembled.
- There was no assembly need.
- No parts to fuss with.
- No pieces to sort out.
Just a solid, well crafted, artistically designed feeder that comes already put together in the box.
How wonderful is that?
I love it when I get a bird feeder like this. Simply fill it up, hang, and wathc the bird flock to it!
